6 Tips to Look Good in Your Nursing Scrubs

Just because you’re wearing scrubs it doesn’t mean that you can’t look your best. Scrubs may not be the most stylish of clothing, but there is nothing stopping you from making the most out of them.

One of the best things about scrubs is that they are very comfortable. Wearing them all day will be no problem at all. If you want to look great in your scrubs, read on for some great tips on nailing the professional look.

1. Get the right fit and style

Many people believe that scrubs are a “One size fits all” item of clothing. This is not true. In fact, scrubs come in a wide variety of styles to suit any body type. No matter what your height or weight there will be a scrubs fit that suits you best. You can also look at the neck of the scrubs. The standard style is a v-neck but there are others to choose from that may be a little more flattering. If anything, you will be able to have a choice of different scrubs styles that you can wear throughout the week.

2. Get the right pants

As you are going to be wearing these scrubs for many hours of the day, it is vital that you find the pants that fit you properly.  Your pants should extend slightly longer than the tops of your shoes without touching the ground. You don’t want them to be too tight or too baggy. You have two options here, drawstring or pull-ups.  This is a matter of personal preference so once you find the style you want, stick with it.

3. Think carefully about the colour

There is a wide variety of colours that you can choose from as you look to buy your scrubs. You should consider two things when you pick out the colour of your scrubs. The first is that of your working environment. Are various colours encouraged, or is the status quo that everyone wears the same colour. If this is what is expected of you then you have limited options. The second thing you need to think about when choosing the colour of your scrubs is that of your skin tone. You will want to choose a colour that is flattering. By trying on a few different colours of scrubs you will be able to identify which colour suits you best.

4. Do you want pockets?

This is something that is a matter of personal preference. Pockets can be very handy to have so if you think you need them, you should seek out a pair of scrubs that have them. You can also have a pocket on the shirt as well as the pants which can be very useful if you need a pen handy throughout the day.

5. Look after them

After a few years of wear, a pair of scrubs can start to look a little faded and tired if they are not cared for properly. You should make sure that you read the care instructions on the scrubs so that you are using the right setting on your washing machine and dryer. This can extend the life of your scrubs a great deal so make sure you do this properly.

6. Maintain the rest of your look

Your scrubs are only a small part of your appearance. You should make sure that you are always putting in that little bit of effort so that you look neat and professional. This can be hard to maintain when you’re working long hours. Even a quick check in the mirror can make give you the opportunity to always look your best at work.
